Premier League giants Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are all interested in signing Ajax’s Diant Ramaj. The 22-year-old goalkeeper has impressed for the Dutch club this season and has attracted top suitors.
Arsenal, Chelsea & Manchester United enter three-way battle
As per reports from journalist Christian Falk of Sport BILD, the Premier League trio are interested in signing Ramaj in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal have done well this season as they are third in the Premier League, two points off leaders Liverpool. Manchester United are in sixth place, eight points outside the Champions League spots. Meanwhile, Chelsea are struggling as they are 11th, 17 points outside the UCL spots. However, all three clubs have had goalkeeper issues this season.
Chelsea signed two goalkeepers in August 2023 as they brought in Robert Sanchez from Brighton and Dorde Petrovic from MLS side New England Revolution. However, the former has struggled with injuries and has missed big chunks of the Blues’ season. This has prompted them to look elsewhere for options.
Manchester United brought in Andre Onana from Ajax and could be in touch with the Eredivisie giants once again. After a very shaky start to the season, the Cameroonian seems to finally have found his feet, but could use cover.
Arsenal, on the other hand, have David Raya as the first choice. However, Aaron Ramsdale is reportedly unhappy with losing his spot to the Spaniard and could look to move away. In preparation of that scenario, Arsenal are in the market.
Diant Ramaj’s career background
These three giants have had top goalkeeper play for them in the past. Their scouting teams have seen something special in Diant Ramaj.
Diant Ramaj joined Ajax from Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal worth £7 million in August 2023. Since then, the young German has made 24 appearances for the club, conceding 41 goals overall.
This season, Ramaj has shown great potential despite Ajax’s struggles. He has made 17 appearances, of which 15 have been starts. In those, the German has conceded 26 goals, making 3.3 saves per game. He has made a total of 56 saves, of which 40 have been from shots inside the box.
The goalkeeper will come up against Premier League side Aston Villa in the Europa Conference League round of 16, which could prove to be a potential audition of his talents.
