Barcelona vs Mallorca Preview, Prediction and Betting Tips

Barcelona vs Mallorca Match Preview

Barcelona vs Mallorca will take place at the Estadi Olympic Lluis Companys in La Liga on March 8 as the hosts look to maintain their great run.

Barcelona enter this game on the back of a strong run of form. They are unbeaten in their last seven games across competitions and have kept three clean sheets in that run. With four wins and three draws, they have maintained pace with Real Madrid and Girona ahead of them. Barca smashed Getafe 4-0 before being held to a goalless draw by Athletic Club in their last game. They will look to put in a strong performance leading to their Champions League clash against Napoli.

Mallorca, on the other hand, are in pretty decent form despite being low in the table. They have lost just once in their last six games, recording three wins and two draws. In that span, they have kept two clean sheets and conceded a respectable five goals. Mallorca secured a heroic 1-0 win over Girona in their last game as Jose Copete’s first-half strike was enough to take them over the line. They will look to win more games in the next few weeks to distance themselves further from the drop zone.

With that said, let’s take a look at the team news for both sides.

Barcelona vs Mallorca Team News

Barcelona

Despite facing several injury concerns over the season, manager Xavi Hernandez has managed the team pretty well. However, he will be without Gavi (cruciate ligament), Ferran Torres (hamstring) and Alejandro Balde (tendon rupture).

Frenkie de Jong (ankle) and Pedri (hamstring) were added to that list in the last game as they both came off injured. Meanwhile, Ronald Araujo picked up his fifth booking in La Liga and will be suspended for the game against Mallorca.

Robert Lewandowski, Oriol Romeu, Joao Cancelo and Andreas Christensen are all at the risk of being suspended should they pick up another booking.

Manager Javier Aguirre will have a much shorter injury list compared to his counterpart ahead of their match. Pablo Maffeo has been out since January and will mostly return towards the end of March.

Meanwhile, Jose Copete and Samu Costa are both at the risk of being suspended should they pick up another yellow card.

Betting Tips & Odds

Barcelona have won each of their last five meetings against Mallorca at home, scoring an astounding 20 goals in the process. They have scored five in their last two meetings and will look to keep that trend going.

Barca have also kept clean sheets in four of their last six meetings, but that could be a challenge with Ronald Araujo out.
