Sacha Boey, Bayern Munich,

Bayern Munich dealt massive blow as Sacha Boey ruled out with injury!

Bayern’s latest €30 million acquisition, Sacha Boey, has been ruled out with an injury after he tore his left hamstring in training on Friday.

Bayern Munich is perhaps enduring their worst moment as a club in the last decade. The reigning champions of Germany are currently 8 points behind league leaders, Bayer Leverkusen, with a game in hand. Bayern had an opportunity to close the gap between the two two clubs as they faced off a week ago. Many expected it to be a heated battle, but Bayer trashed Harry Kane’s Bayern in a resounding 3-0 victory. Midweek, Bayern Munich also lost 1-0 to Lazio in the first leg of their round of 16 UCL tie. In these dire times, the news of Sacha Boey’s injury after arriving only a few weeks ago is a further blow to Bayern’s aspirations to say the least.

The French national was part of a €30 million deal plus add-ons between Galatasaray and Bayern. He was signed to re-enforce the fullback position after Bouna Sarr’s injury ruled him out for the rest of the season. Sacha arrived in the final days of January and started the game against Bayer Leverkusen.

However, now with Sacha suffering a tear in his left hamstring, the Bayern squad is further depleted. For Bayern the injury comes at a bad time, as they attempt to recover from poor positions in all tournaments. Earlier this season, Thomas Tuchel’s side was also knocked out of the DFB Pokal by Saarbrücken, a team which competes in the third division of the German footballing pyramid. An embarrassing season for Bayern till now to say the least.

When will Sacha Boey be back from injury?

The club manager, Thomas Tuchel, on Saturday explained Sacha Boey’s injury. In the press conference ahead of Bayern’s tie against Bochum, Tuchel said, “Sacha will miss the game due to a muscle injury. He’ll be out for a few weeks.” Initial tests have revealed that the 23-year-old fullback has suffered only a partial tear. The injury could see him miss up to a month if not more. However, further tests and his recovery will determine his return. For now, Bayern will have to bounce out of their slump without the services of Sacha Boey.

Bayern will be back in action against Vfl Bochum on 18 February.
