Enzo Fernandez has been an exception in Chelsea’s inconsistent season so far. The Argentinian stands out as one of the finest midfielders for the club, playing 37 times with seven goals. However, he admitted that what people have seen is not his full potential as he was displaying in the 2022 World Cup.
The world recognized Enzo’s class when playing for Argentina in the 2022 World Cup, guarding his national team all the way to the final and winning the title. Infact, it was his world cup brilliance which provoked Chelsea to sign him the following winter.
Enzo Fernandez on Chelsea transfer and his performances so far
Enzo is one of the most appearing players under Mauricio Pochettino this season. Only Conor Gallagher and Axel Disasi played more than he did. With The Blues struggling to establish their position even in the mid-table, Enzo admitted that he was progressing as the season came to an end.
“I’m trying to get there, to the version of me that you saw at the World Cup,’ he said via the club’s official website. “I want to feel like that Enzo, that was playing at the World Cup. I want to get back there.
“I feel good, getting better each day, but I still don’t feel like I’m at 100 per cent. I’m still adapting and still don’t feel entirely myself, but I’m trying to get there as quickly as possible and working hard every day in order to do so.”
The River Plate academy graduate vowed that he would be on a level he wants to be. “It won’t be easy because the World Cup has been and gone, and I’m still growing as a player and developing my skills, but I’m looking for that Enzo. I want to feel completely myself again.”
