Eric Dier to Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich Secures Eric Dier in €4 Million Deal from Tottenham

In a significant move, Bayern Munich are poised to acquire Tottenham defender Eric Dier in a deal valued at around €4 million ($4.3 million), according to renowned Journalist Fabrizio Romano. The 29-year-old Englishman arrived in Germany on Thursday morning for his medical, following the agreement of personal terms.

Initially eyeing Radu Drăgușin, Bayern had offered a competitive bid of approximately €30 million, attempting to challenge Tottenham’s pursuit of the Genoa defender.

However, Drăgușin ultimately chose north London, prompting Bayern Munich to explore alternative options, ultimately leading to the imminent signing of Eric Dier.

Dier, whose contract with Tottenham concludes this summer, found himself surplus to requirements under head coach Ange Postecoglou.

Despite defensive setbacks with Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero facing extended absences, Postecoglou preferred deploying full-backs Ben Davies and Emerson Royal at the centre of the defense.

With Dier making just one start this season, the move to Bayern provides a fresh start for the versatile defender. West Ham and several other clubs had been monitoring Dier, but Bayern swiftly finalized terms upon expressing interest.

Dier, having joined Tottenham from Sporting Lisbon in 2014 for £4 million, amassed 365 appearances for the club and earned 49 caps with the English national team. His transfer to Bayern Munich aligns him with former Spurs teammate Harry Kane, who made a similar move to the Allianz Arena last summer.
