Erik Ten Hag confident Manchester United will ‘catch up’ to Liverpool & ‘aim for titles’ after falling to 14th following 3-0 defeat

Erik Ten Hag believes Manchester United can bounce back from back-to-back defeats against Brighton and Liverpool.

Manchester United were clueless in their perch on Sunday, after Liverpool just walked past with flair and style, winning 3-0. A brace from Luis Diaz and a Mohamed Salah strike was enough, as the Merseyside Reds capitalized on Casimiro’s errors in the first half. This solid performance made Arne Slot’s first Old Trafford win even more special.

Erik Ten Hag, and the Red Devils, never seem to be getting out of hot water as the side has been criticized for lack of style and personality. Despite winning two trophies in three years, the Dutch man’s performance in the Premier League has been lackluster, however, he still believes his side will ‘go for trophies’ until the end of the season.

Erik Ten Hag spoke to Sky Sports in the post-match interview, saying “We have many games to play and I know where we will be in the end of the season. Many games, many weeks, and we will go for trophies. I don’t have the feeling that we are in the same pattern. It was sometimes too open. I have seen good things but I don’t want to talk about them after a 3-0 defeat at Liverpool. … We have to freshen up the dressing room. Today, first half for Matthijs de Light, first start for Joshua Zirkzee. We will catch up and we will come back.”

As the International break commences, Erik will have to figure out some ways in the next two weeks. Next in line is an away trip to Southampton for the Red Devils on September 14th.
