Erik ten Hag reveals Casemiro’s future following Community Shield defeat

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has explained that Brazilian midfielder Casemiro will stay at the club this summer amid interest from Saudi Arabia in the past few weeks. The former Real Madrid champion has been heavily linked with an exit in this summer window.

Ten Hag told in a press conference: “Casemiro? I don’t think it is about the system. Since a long time he has a pre-season so he is very fit in the moment. As a team we work very well and that is easier for Casemiro. He is a great player and can bring his skillset. He is very important for our team.”

He added: “I don’t have any signal he won’t stay and we are very happy with that.”

Casemiro is the only recognised defensive midfielder in United’s ranks and the club has been linked with several players in that position. Any significant incoming this summer would put the Brazilian’s future in doubt.
