5. Jarrad Branthwaite
Jarrad Branthwaite is back. The 22 year old centre back was the subject of a lot of transfer interest in the summer especially from Manchester United but Everton managed to keep him. An injury had sidelined him so far but he returned against Crystal Palace and Everton immediately got their first win. This weekend they face Ipswich and they are supposed to win. The tall defender also got 3 goals last season so he could be a great option.
4. Trent Alexander-Arnold
While this is a name that tops this list most weeks, Liverpool play Chelsea this week, so the chances that Trent Alexander-Arnold picks up a clean sheet is actually not that high. But Chelsea aren’t the best defensively so Liverpool will inevitably threaten in attack. The RB is the most dangerous creator for the Reds and he is coming off scoring a worldie of a freekick on England duty. Expect him to do well.

3. Pedro Porro
It is no secret that Spurs have at best had a topsy-turvy start to the season. They currently sit 9th but below them at 13th are this week’s opponents West Ham. Pedro Porro is a top-class Fantasy Premier League option and he will be so again this week. Interestingly the Spanish defender is yet to get an assist so far this season but he has created plenty of chances so this could be the game he changes that.
2. Josko Gvardiol
Manchester City are the best team in England as is demonstrated by their four Premier League titles on the trot. Of their defenders, Josko Gvardiol happens to be the best asset in Fantasy Premier League. Brilliantly effective at both ends of the pitch, the Croatian is one of the most popular defenders in the game. City’s opponents this week are Wolves who presently are at the bottom of the table so Gvardiol will be a big bet for points.
1. William Saliba
Each week all 4 of Arsenal’s starting defenders could find a spot in this list. However, this week it is William Saliba for a reason. The Frenchman is widely regarded to be the best defender in the league and is known for his composure. In the international break though, Saliba made a big mistake against Belgium which has garnered a lot of social media attention. He will be hungry to make amends to his reputation when he takes on Bournemouth this weekend.
