Fantasy Premier League GW 9: Key Injury Updates and Team News

The Premier League will return to action this weekend for matchday nine of the 2024/25 season. Supporters will have plenty of big games to look forward to, none being bigger than Arsenal hosting Liverpool. Fantasy Premier League managers will have several important decisions to make in light of the fitness and injury updates. Several Premier League clubs were involved in European action mid-week. Here is a comprehensive look at the availability and unavailability updates for all Premier League teams ahead of matchday nine.

Arsenal

Arsenal fans continue to endure a long injury list at their beloved club. Jurrien Timber, Kieran Tierney, and Martin Ødegaard continue to remain on the sidelines. Italian defender, Riccardo Calafiori suffered a knee injury midweek in the Champions League and is also ruled out. To make matters worse for Mikel Arteta, William Saliba will serve a suspension following his red card against Bournemouth.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa will have to deal with only one absentee for the match against Bournemouth. Jaden Philogene-Bidace will miss the game and serve a suspension.

Bournemouth

Bournemouth has received a welcome boost ahead of Saturday’s match, with a fully fit squad at Andoni Iraola’s disposal, allowing him to experiment with his favoured 4-2-3-1 lineup.

Brentford

Thomas Frank will have several key absentees for the match against Ipswich Town. Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey, Josh Dasilva, Mathias Jensen, Gustavo Gomes, and Thiago Rodrigues are all injured and unavailable. Christian Nørgaard will be ready to make a comeback after recovering from a muscle injury.

Brighton & Hove Albion

As the season has passed by, Brighton & Hove Albion squad has been hit by several injury woes. Adam Webster (Hamstring Injury), Danny Welbeck (Back Injury), James Milner (Hamstring Injury), Pedro Porro (Ankle Injury), Matthew O’Riley (Ankle Injury), Simon Adingra (Knock), and Solly March (Knee Injury) will have to miss the contest against Wolves.

Chelsea

For Chelsea, Ben Chilwell, who is battling an illness, is the only doubtful player for the match against Newcastle United. Enzo Maresca hopes that the upcoming UEFA Europa League encounter against Panathinaikos will not add any further names to the absentees list.

Crystal Palace

Palace will have four key absentees for the match against Tottenham Hotspur. Chadi Riad, Cheick Oumar Doucoure, Chris Richards, and Matheus Franca will not be available on matchday nine. Franca has the opportunity to be available depending on his recovery in the coming days.

Everton

Everton will have a long injury list against Fulham. Armando Broja, James Garner, Jarrad Branthwaite, Jesper Lindstrøm, Tim Iroegbunam, and Youssef Chermiti will all remain on the sidelines for Sean Dyche.

Fulham

Fulham has been dealing with the absence of Carlos Vinicius for quite some time now. Unfortunately, for the club, Timothy Castagne, Sasa Lukic, and Jorge Cuenca have also been ruled out. Marco Silva will have some big decisions to make in light of these injury worries with Joachim Andersen also not available on the back of a suspension.

Ipswich Town

Ipswich Town has unfortunately witnessed a massive increase in the number of injuries from the last matchday. Ali Al Hamadi, Axel Tuanzebe, Cieran Slicker, Jens-Lys Cajuste, and Massimo Luongo will all remain on the sidelines on matchday nine.

Leicester City

Leicester City will have a challenging game against Nottingham Forest on the weekend. Hamza Choudhury (Dislocated Shoulder), Jakub Stolarczyk (Ankle Injury), and Patson Daka (Ankle Injury) will miss the contest.

Liverpool

For Liverpool and Arne Slot, Alisson Becker will be the big miss due to a hamstring injury. The Brazilian is not expected to return until late November. Diogo Jota and Harvey Elliott will join Alisson on the injury list against Arsenal. Federico Cheisa’s participation will be confirmed by Arne Slot in the coming days.

Manchester City

Pep Guardiola will hope to have Kevin De Bruyne back on the bench, with the midfielder recovering from a groin injury. Kyle Walker has joined Rodri and Oscar Bobb on the injury list and will be guaranteed exclusions against Southampton.

Manchester United

Manchester United and Erik ten Hag will have one of the longest injury lists amongst the Premier League clubs on matchday nine. Casemiro (Calf Injury), Harry Maguire (Ankle Injury), Jonny Evans (Knock), Kobbie Mainoo (Muscle Injury), Lenny Yoro (Leg Injury), Luke Shaw (Calf Injury), Mason Mount (Head Injury), and Tyrell Malacia are all members of the injury list for Manchester United. Bruno Fernandes will also not be available as he continues to serve his suspension.

Newcastle United

Eddie Howe will have to deal with some key injury issues against Chelsea. Martin Dubravka, Matt Targett, and Callum Wilson have yet to be cleared by the doctors, but they can participate in the contest. Jamaal Lascelles, Kieran Trippier, and Sven Botman are completely ruled out for the fixture.

Nottingham Forest

Like its opponents on Friday, Forest will also have three absentees due to injuries. Danilo, Ibrahim Sangare, and Morgan Gibbs-White will not be able to make the trip to Leicester.

Southampton

Southampton will have to negate the threat of Manchester City without the services of Ryan Fraser (Suspended), Gavin Bazunu (Achilles Tendon Injury), Juan Larios (Physical Discomfort), Ross Stewart (Calf Injury), and William Smallbone (Hamstring Injury).

Tottenham Hotspur

For Tottenham Hotspur and Ange Postecoglou, Heung-Min Son will be the only name on the injury list due to a thigh injury.

West Ham United

The Hammers continue to miss the presence of Niclas Füllkrug, who is recovering from an Achilles Tendon Injury. West Ham will also not have the privilege of naming Mohammed Kudus in the squad as the midfielder will be out due to a suspension.

Wolves

Boubacar Traore (Knee), Enso Gonzalez (Ligament), Hee-Chan Hwang (Ankle), Sasa Kalajdzic (Ligament), and Yerson Mosquera (Knee) will be guaranteed absentees on matchday nine for a struggling Wolves side. Sam Johnstone and Bastien Meupiyou are also yet to be cleared by the club doctors.
