Gameweek 17 of the Fantasy Premier League is here and it is very important to pick the correct team. For that it is crucial to be aware of absentees, be it through injuries or suspension. Those at the top will look to cement their leads and try to dethrone their competitors. While the clubs struggling at the bottom will attempt to climb up the ladder. Let us go through this week’s absentees.
Arsenal
Arsenal will take late assessments on the availability of Riccardo Calafiori and Oleksandr Zinchenko while Declan Rice is expected to be fit and return. Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White though are long-term absentees. The Gunners face Crystal Palace this weekend.
Aston Villa
Aston Villa have a difficult game against Manchester City this weekend. Most of their squad is fit, barring Jacob Ramsey. Late calls will be taken on Tyrone Mings and Leon Bailey for this fixture.
Bournemouth
Bournemouth face Manchester United this weekend in an exciting fixture. Alex Scott (knee) will miss this game. Luis Sinisterra, Julian Araujo, Marcus Tavernier and Marcos Senesi are all expected to be absent too.
Brentford
Brentford host high-flying Nottingham Forest this weekend. Josh DaSilva, Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey, Ethan Pinnock, Sepp van der Berg and Gustavo Nunes are all out injured. Igor Thiago however is expected to be back this weekend.
Brighton
Brighton will look to recover from poor form when they face West Ham this weekend. They have a long injury list. Joel Veltman is expected to be back this weekend as is Matt O’Riley. Adam Webster might need another week. That’s also the case for the likes of James Milner, Danny Welbeck, Solly March, Ferdi Kadioglu and Jack Hinshelwood.

Chelsea
Chelsea play Everton this weekend but they are without the services of Reece James and Wesley Fofana for some time. Marc Cucurella is suspended. Romeo Lavia and Joao Felix are expected to feature. No timing has been given on the return of Benoit Badiashile while Mykhailo Mudryk is set to be suspended for a doping offence.
Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace face Arsenal this weekend. Adam Wharton and Matheus Franca are out injured. Rob Holding is training alone for some other issue. Daniel Munoz is suspended through yellow card accumulation. Chadi Riad will be assessed to see whether he has the fitness to return.
Everton
Everton play against Chelsea this weekend. But they will be without the services of Tim Iroegbunam (foot), Youssef Chermiti (foot), Armando Broja (calf) and Dwight McNeil (knee). James Garner has a back problem and is out.
Fulham
Fulham face Crystal Palace this weekend. Reiss Nelson and Harrison Reed are ruled out of this fixture. Joachim Andersen and Kenny Tete are both expected to return from injury but both Calvin Bassey and Andreas Pereira are out due to suspension.
Ipswich Town
Axel Tuanzebe and Chiedozie Ogbene are long-term absentees while Sammy Szmodics and Liam Delap are both going to miss Ipswich’s game against Newcastle this weekend with illness and suspension respectively.
Leicester City
Leicester City have Mads Hermansen, Abdul Fatawu, Ricardo Pereira and Wilfried Ndidi are who are not expected to make any more appearances this year. Harry Winks and Odsonne Edouard could return this weekend though.
Liverpool
Liverpool face a tough test against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend. Conor Bradley as well as Ibrahima Konate are expected to miss action through injury while Andy Robertson is suspended.
Manchester City
Manchester City have a couple of long-term injuries in Rodri (ACL) and Oscar Bobb (broken leg). Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji are also expected to miss the game against Aston Villa.
Manchester United
Mason Mount, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw will all be absent for the game against Bournemouth this weekend.
Newcastle
Newcastle United have a number of injuries. Jamaal Lascelles (knee), Sven Botman (knee) and Callum Wilson (back) aren’t available at the moment. The game against Ipswich Town might be too soon for Joelinton as well.
Nottingham Forest
Danilo and Ibrahima Sangare are expected to be back in the new year but Ryan Yates and Murillo are scheduled to return for the trip to Brentford.
Southampton
Southampton have Gavin Bazunu (Achilles tendon), Ross Stewart (calf) William Smallbone (thigh) all out injured versus Fulham. Kyle Walker-Peters and Aaron Ramsdale are expected to return for this. Jack Stephens is suspended.
Tottenham Hotspur
Wilson Odobert, Micky Van de Ven, Richarlison (both thigh issues), Cristian Romero, Mikey Moore, and Ben Davies are all injured. Timo Werner and Destiny Udogie are expected to return for the game against Manchester United this weekend. Rodrigo Bentancur is suspended.
West Ham
West Ham will be without Michail Antonio who has a serious injury and Carlos Soler through suspension. Jear Clair Todibo should be back for this weekend’s game against Brighton.
Wolves
Wolves have a number of long-term injuries in Yerson Mosquera (ACL), Sasa Kalajdzic (ACL), and Boubacar Traore (knee). Rayan Ait-Nouri is suspended while Jose Sa and Pablo Sarabia are scheduled to return this weekend versus Leicester City.
