FPL Price Changes – rises, falls and most transfers in/out for GW 23

Gameweek 23 of the Fantasy Premier League season is soon going to be upon us. In the context of that it is important to look at how the last GW went. Gameweek 22 took place last weekend and threw up several interesting things to take note of. The stars of the show in the previous GW were Justin Kluivert of Bournemouth who managed a tally of 22 points against Newcastle, Phil Foden of Manchester City who had a total of 19 points versus Ipswich Town, and Mateo Kovacic of Manchester City who too managed a tally of 13 points. The highlight of the weekend is the game between Manchester City and Chelsea. Both teams have been largely inconsistent this season but both are embroiled in a battle for the Champions League spots so it is going to be exciting.

It has been a quite fascinating period under the new manager Ruben Amorim for Amad Diallo. The Ivorian faced challenges at Manchester United, particularly with managers like Erik Ten Hag not providing him with sufficient opportunities, despite having scored the decisive goal against Manchester City in the FA Cup final last season. It has truly been an outstanding season for him up to this point. This features an absolutely remarkable hat trick against Southampton a few weeks ago. He has emerged as his club’s standout player recently and has been granted a significant new contract.

Alexander Isak (Newcastle) £9.5m

Newcastle have experienced fluctuations, as they have had difficulty achieving any level of consistency this season. But recently they have been quite good and have worked up to 6th in the table. However, Alexander Isak is a player who has significantly impressed for the Magpies this season, particularly recently. Considered one of the top forwards in the Premier League, the Swede has scored 15 goals this season and provided 5 assists. This includes a resurgence in form over the last couple of months, where he is been arguably the best player in the league.

Justin Kluivert (Bournemouth) £5.6m

Justin Kluivert is a player of great intrigue who has experienced a very engaging career. He is among only two active players who have scored in all of Europe’s top 5 leagues. Nevertheless, it can be said that it is at Bournemouth where he has truly excelled. This season, he already boasts 13 goal contributions in the Premier League. Three of these goals were scored last week against Newcastle, marking his second hat trick of the season. That would provide him with a significant boost in confidence, and with favorable fixtures ahead, it may be an excellent opportunity to bring the Dutchman with the renowned surname into your team.

FPL fallers

Alejandro Garnacho Man Utd£5.9m

Bernardo Silva Man City £6.2m
Nicolas Jackson Chelsea£7.9m
Enzo Fernandez Chelsea£4.9m

Nicolas Jackson (Chelsea) £7.9m

Nicolas Jackson is a very interesting player. He is a very good player but suffers from inconsistency. While his link-up play benefits the rest of Chelsea’s young attackers, his own finishing is very up and down. While at the start of the season, he was absolutely great, right now he is in a lean patch, which has lasted quite a bit. Since the start of December, he has found the back of the net just once in all competitions. That, along with the fact that Chelsea are continually linked to new strikers means FPL managers are cutting ties.

Bernardo Silva (Man City) £6.2m

Bernardo Silva is not the most popular FPL option anyway, his fall-off this season has been quite remarkable. His inability to break down defences has made Pep Guardiola play him deeper. That being said his physicality and quality seem to have declined severely. This has been one of the big reasons why Manchester City have struggled this season. For all City’s signings, midfield seems to be an area of the pitch they still haven’t strengthened. Overall, it is not surprising to see his price going down.

Alejandro Garnacho (Man Utd) £5.9m

Alejandro Garnacho is in a confusing situation. While for the last couple of seasons, he has been one of Manchester United’s bright spots, this season under Ruben Amorim, he doesn’t seem to fit. With United in trouble with PSR rules, selling the academy graduate has become an appealing option. He has been linked heavily to Napoli and Chelsea. If the Argentine ends up going to the latter, it will be very interesting to see what happens from an FPL perspective.
