The La Liga 2024/25 campaign is all set to resume operations this weekend, as some of the biggest Spanish football clubs are gearing up to Challenge the reigning champions Real Madrid for the Spanish title. The fight for Continental qualification for the UEFA Champions League and Europa League is also on the line for the clubs.

All the clubs have already played 10 matches in the current campaign and the title race is shaping up on the top of the table while competition is getting intense in the midtable standings. On the other hand, at the bottom of the points table, clubs are struggling to find their feet whereas, others are battling to stay clear of the relegation zone.

The top six in the Latest La Liga standings

As things stand, the big three of Spain Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are occupying the top three spots on the points table. Alongside, Villarreal on fourth place. Meanwhile, the Spanish champions led by Don Carlo are in hot pursuit of the top spot and are pushing hard to close the three points gap between them and Barcelona. Notably, Los Blancos are yet to suffer a league loss with seven victories and three draws, they have 24 points in the tally subsequently ensuring the second place in La Liga standings. Diego Simone’s resilient Atletico Madrid is sitting in the third spot with just 4 points less than their arch-rivals Real Madrid, they also remain undefeated in the League campaign.

Now we are moving down to midtable affairs, standings are seemingly more tightly contested as all the teams from 7th to 12th position on the points tally have favourable odds to climb up the rankings into the top six and secure continental football next season. RCD Mallorca have been impressive in their campaign, earning 17 points so far in 6th place having equal points to 6th placed Bilbao but trailing in Goal differences. In the 18th position, it’s Real Valladolid with 8 points and an unwanted record goal difference of -13 worst figure in the league so far. Valladolid have conceded 21 goals in 10 matches picturing their defensive instability. Las Palmas is sitting at the second last spot with six points with single win three draws and six losses making it difficult for them to bounce back from the bottom of the table without a miracle.

The fallen giants of Spain Valencia have faced a challenging start to the league endeavours having last finished in the top four in the 2018/2019 season. The club face several challenges in management, player retention and financial constraints and all have resulted in the current situation, as they stand at the bottom after another 3-2 defeat to Las Palmas.
