N’Golo Kante praised for cleaning up pitch in Jeddah derby

Former Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante was once again praised for his humility in his actions during a recent Saudi Pro League tie. Al Ittihad met city rivals Al Ahli in the domestic matchday nine clash on Thursday night.

Kante’s latest antics have left everyone in awe when the home side were winning 1-0 thanks to Saleh Alshehri’s first-half goal. The Al Ittihad supporters threw hundreds of flags on the field as a delaying tactic and the match was halted for five minutes.

Almost every player on the pitch got off to get a drink except Kante who diligently picked up the scarves and flags and returned them to the sidelines to allow the game to resume. Former Liverpool midfielder Fabinho was involved in the act but received less attention for his efforts on social media.

How did social media react to N’Golo Kante’s class act?

N’Golo Kante’s efforts didn’t go in vain as Al Ittihad secured a comfortable 1-0 victory over Al Ahli placing them joint top in the Saudi Pro League standings. His act didn’t go unnoticed as many fans took to social media to praise the midfielder’s humility and character.

‘Wow, N’Golo Kante is so humble,’ wrote one fan on X.

‘Sometimes I wish Kante stayed forever. He has everything you need in a human being and footballer,‘ said a Chelsea fan.

‘No matter the football club Kante plays (for) you can never dislike this guy,’ another wrote.

‘He should have won the Ballon d’Or,’ one fan said.

‘Sets the best example to the next generation. Pure human,’ came the verdict of another.

Despite winning several trophies on the European stage, the 33-year-old midfielder is still waiting for his first silverware in Saudi Arabia.
