The 28-year-old defender Ryan Williams has got her maiden national team call-up from the United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) for the January camp. She is one of the 26 players in the squad selected by head coach Emma Hayes. The camp will be held from January 14-21 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
Ryan Williams is a former TCU women’s soccer player and is currently an integral part of the back line for North Carolina Courage, a side she has been a part of since 2018. She primarily contributes as a right-back and is currently one of the best in her position in National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). She has got her first call for the national team training camp after a long wait of eight players as a player in the NWSL.
Ryan Williams Performance
For Texas Christian University (TCU), Williams played four seasons, from 2014 to 2017. Being one of the best in the business, she played for over 7,100 minutes for the Frogs during this time. After four seasons with TCU, in 2018 she started representing the North Carolina Courage.
In the five illustrious seasons with North Carolina till now, she has won seven trophies: two NWSL Shields, two NWSL Championships, two NWSL Challenge Cups, and one Women’s International Champions Cup of 2018.
The 2024 season has been a glorious one for Williams, where she made 55 tackles and 54 interceptions, leading all NWSL defenders. This great performance gave the right-back her first ticket to the national team, who are preparing for the SheBelives Cup, to be held in February.
