While it has been speculated for months that Vinicius is the favourite to win the prestigious award, he is set to see his dream come true next week.

Vini on his way to win his maiden Ballon d’Or

It was reported earlier that Vini Jr had been informed by the French Football Association that he would win his maiden Ballon d’Or amid competition from his Real teammates Jude Bellingham, Dani Carvajal, and Manchester City stars Erling Haaland and Rodri. The 24-year-old had an outstanding 2023/24 season, helping Los Blancos win the La Liga and Champions League. He amassed 24 goals and 11 assists in all competitions, including strikes against Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund in the UCL semi-finals and finals.

Having already established himself as one of the pivotal players of the Spanish side, last season saw Vinicius further enhance his status as one of the best players in the world. He has also carried on his stellar form this season, netting 5 goals and 7 assists in 13 games while forming a dangerous attacking partnership with Kylian Mbappe and Rodrygo Goes.

This will be Vini Jr’s first-ever Ballon d’Or, and he is also set to become the first Brazilian to get his hands on the trophy since Kaka in 2007. The 2024 Ballon d’Or will see the legendary duo of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi not making the shortlist for the first time in two decades. Meanwhile, It is highly touted that the baton has been passed to Vini to carve out a great legacy for years to come.
