Brighton vs Crystal Palace Preview

  • Tournament: Premier League
  • Date: Sunday, December 15, 2024
  • Time: 2:00 pm GMT
  • Venue: Amex Stadium

Brighton will host a struggling Crystal Palace side at the Amex Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday, December 15. Both sides have had a contrasting start to the season.

Brighton spent the highest amount of money (£200 million) in the summer transfer market in the Premier League. It has certainly been fruitful so far as they sit seventh in the table after 15 games, just five points behind third-placed Arsenal. The Seagulls have managed six wins, six draws, and three defeats.

Crystal Palace, meanwhile, are 17th in the table, just four points above the relegation zone. They have just two wins, seven draws, and six defeats in the Premier League this season. While they have improved upon a dire start to the season, they are still far off from where they would want to be at the table.

Key Players to watch in Brighton vs Crystal Palace

Kaoru Mitoma

Kaoru Mitoma

The Japanese winger hasn’t hit his best stride this season so far for Brighton despite having some good spells. He has scored three goals and provided two assists in 15 Premier League games, which puts in him the Top 3 for both metrics at the club.

However, Kaoru Mitoma is known for his dribbling and his creativity. His final product has been lacking this season and he will be keen to change that against Palace. He has scored just twice in his last 15 games across competitions for Brighton and two of those have come in the last four games.

Ismaila Sarr

Since joining Crystal Palace from Marseille in the summer, Ismaila Sarr has struggled like the rest of the team. He failed to provide any goal contribution in 14 games across competitions.

However, he registered a goal and an assist in the Eagles’ 2-2 draw away against Aston Villa on November 23. He and the club’s supporters would’ve hoped it would kickstart his career but he hasn’t provided a goal contribution in three games since.

He will be keen to find his rhythm again and get on the scoresheet. With the likes of Eberechi and Daichi Kamada back, Sarr has competition to face as well.

Brighton vs Crystal Palace Prediction

Brighton had a good start to the season and pulled off some great results, beating the likes of Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur. However, they have been quite inconsistent since and have just two wins in their last eight games across competitions with three draws and three defeats.

They are winless in their last three games, having drawn against Southampton, lost against Fulham and then drawn against Leicester City. On the other hand, Crystal Palace have just one defeat in their last eight games with three wins and four draws. They are unbeaten in their last four games. They drew against Aston Villa and Newcastle United before beating Ipswich and then drawing against Manchester City.

While it isn’t a big push, Palace have shown improvement in recent weeks, which has also seen them climb out of the relegation zone while Brighton have shown a lapse in form. This could make for an interesting match. The two sides could share the points on Sunday.

Predicted Score: Brighton 2-2 Crystal Palace
