The Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers are set to resume this month, having already seen two matches for each during the September international break. Nigeria will resume its campaign by hosting Libya at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Friday.
Nigeria have won the AFCON title three times and will look to qualify and get their hands on the fourth. They beat Benin 3-0 in their first match of the qualification last month before playing out a goalless draw against Rwanda in their next match. However, they still lead the table with four points.
Libya, meanwhile, are at the bottom of the group with one draw and one defeat. They drew 1-1 against Rwanda but lost 2-1 against Benin. Libya are looking to qualify for the AFCON finals for only the fourth time but faces a tough challenge against the Super Eagles on Friday.

Key Players to watch in Nigeria vs Libya
Victor Boniface
With Victor Osimhen set to miss this international break, Victor Boniface will be keen to make his stake in Nigeria’s national team. So far, he’s scored one goal and provided one assist in eight games for the Super Eagles.
At the club level, Boniface has been in terrific form for Bayer Leverkusen yet again. After arriving from Union Saint-Gilloise last summer, he scored 21 goals and provided 10 assists in 31 games across competitions last campaign. This time around, He’s scored six goals and provided one assist in nine games across competitions as they look to defend their Bundesliga title.
Ahmed Ekrawa
Ahmed Ekrawa is Libya’s main striker and plays for Al-Ahli at the club level. He is expected to start against Nigeria on Friday. With the gulf in quality between the two teams, the Super Eagles are expected to dominate the game.
Hence, Ekrawa is likely to be an isolated figure up front for Libya. He will have to work hard and hold up the ball whenever possible and help link up with his teammates. He has scored four goals and provided one assist in 10 games across competitions for Libya so far. For Al-Ahli, he’s made just two appearances.
Nigeria vs Libya Prediction
Nigeria are ranked 39th in the FIFA World Rankings and are one of the best teams in Africa right now. They have been so dominant in recent years that they would be disappointed with a draw against Rwanda in their previous game. They will look to take the three points against Libya and move one step closer to a comfortable qualification for the next round.
Their opponents, meanwhile, are ranked 121 in the FIFA World Rankings and have only qualified for AFCON twice. Even their manager Nasser Al-Hadiri said before the match that their aim is to try for a draw against Nigeria.
Hence, it seems unlikely that Libya will be able to cause the Super Eagles much trouble. However, with Victor Osimhen missing, they will look to contain them as much as they can.
Predicted Score: Nigeria 4-0 Libya
