AS Roma vs Inter Milan Player Ratings as Lautaro Martinez wins it for the defending champions

AS Roma held on for the most part, sometimes through quality and sometimes through sheer luck but in the end, Inter Milan just had too much quality for them and won 1-0.

It was a couple of individual errors that led to the undoing of the capital side. Inter fully capitalised on these errors and it was of course their captain Lautaro Martinez who found the net.

Inter are now only two points behind Napoli at the top of the standings while Roma languish at the 10th spot. The goal was actually just the third of the league season for Lautaro Martinez, as he recovers from a poor start to the season in a bid to retain the Golden Boot.

Goalkeeper

M. Svilar — 7/10. Made a number of decent saves, particularly in the second half. Helpless for the goal he conceded.

Defenders

G. Mancini — 5/10. Looked somewhat shaky in duels. Not his best outing altogether, even though he didn’t make any mistakes as such.

E. Ndicka — 7/10. An absolute rock at the back. Very good with the ball and won everything he was faced with. It’s great to see him fit, healthy and performing.

Angelino — 7/10. Good outing for the Spanish defender. Created multiple chances as well for his side.

Midfielders

Z. Celik – 4/10. Made a mess of the interception that could have prevented Inter from opening the scoring. Missed a couple of decent chances too.

B. Cristante – 5/10. A very silent game from the midfielder. Didn’t really do much as Inter dominated proceedings.

M. Kone — 6/10. Looked good out of possession but didn’t really move the needle with the ball. Taken off around the hour mark.

N. Zalewski — 4/10. Outmuscled by Frattesi for Inter’s opener. A really ineffective outing from the Polish international.

P. Dybala – 6/10. A largely silent outing. Created a couple of chances but lacked the magic touch.

L. Pellegrini — 6/10. Tested Sommer with a good effort but that was about it from the Roma captain. Another of their players who wasn’t up to the standards.

Forwards

A. Dobvyk — 5/10. A disappointing game from the new striker. Completely dominated by Inter’s defenders and looked lost.

Substitutes

N. Pisilli – 5/10. The young midfielder came on in the second half and picked up a booking. Didn’t do much else.

T. Baldanzi – N.A.

M. Hermoso – N.A.

E. Le Fee – N.A.

M. Soule – N.A.

Manager

I. Juric – 6/10. While the goal they conceded came from individual errors, Roma never really looked likely to win it. Needs to be better in using possession.

Goalkeeper

Y. Sommer – 6/10. Barely had anything to do apart from the one shot from Pellegrini which he was equal to.

Defenders

A. Bastoni – 8/10. Brilliant as usual. Routinely superb in possession and very good at the defensive side of the game too.

F. Acerbi – 5/10. Had to go off in the first half itself with an injury. Replaced by De Vrij.

B. Pavard – 7/10. Comfortable outing from the French international. Tidy in and out of possession.

Midfielders

F. Dimarco – 6/10. Not one of his usually class performances. Rather a silent outing but didn’t do much wrong.

H. Mkhitaryan – 7/10. Hit the woodwork from distance. Linked up play well with the pockets.

H. Calhanoglu – 5/10. Had to go off in the first half itself with an injury. Replaced by Frattesi.

N. Barella – 6/10. Not one of his routinely world class performances. Sometimes was a little shaky in duels and got booked.

M. Darmian – 6/10. Wasn’t a particularly threatening presence on the right. Also picked up a booking before being taken off.

Forwards

L. Martinez – 9/10. The difference maker as usual for Inter. Scored from an absolute rasper of a shot from the edge of the box.

M. Thuram – 7/10. The Frenchman was once again top class. Constantly drove with the ball and won the most duels.

Substitutes

D. Frattesi – 7/10. Came on and caused the goal with his physicality and drive. A top option off the bench.

S. De Vrij – 6/10. Came on and capably filled in for the injured Acerbi. Solid enough for all effect and purposes.

Y. Bisseck – N.A.

D. Dumfries – 7/10. Looked dangerous when he came on. Rested from the start.

J. Correa – N.A.

Manager

S. Inzaghi – 8/10. Another very good game for the Inter manager. He is definitely among the best in the world right now.
