Real Madrid vs FC Barcelona Player Ratings

Real Madrid 2-5 FC Barcelona Player Ratings – Five star Barca dazzle in Jeddah and win the Super Cup in style

FC Barcelona win the Spanish Super Cup with a five goal thrashing on Real Madrid, thanks to goals from Yamal, Lewandowski, Raphinha and Balde. It is the 15th Super Cup title for Barca, adding another feather in their cap and putting them two ahead of Real Madrid.

Both sides came into the final unchanged, trusting the team that took them over the line in the semi-finals. The game was off to an electric start as Lamine Yamal hit from outside the box after cutting inside from the right, forcing Courtois to dive to save it. Tibo came to the rescue again, as Raphinha tried to score a header off a cross from Gavi. It was a lively start to the final, with both sides creating opportunities to score. But it was Real Madrid who took the lead, as Mbappe broke into a counter attack and scored a solo goal on his own. Barcelona cancelled out the equaliser soon, after Lewandowski laid down a clever pass to Lamine Yamal, who makes the run forward and finishes it with precision. Barcelona got for a penalty after a VAR check after Gavi went to the ground after making contact with the outstretched leg of Camavinga inside the penalty box, which Lewandowski converted without any mistake.

Things took a worse turn for Los Blancos as Barcelona added a third, after a fantastic cross from long way out from Kounde, which was finished by Raphinha with a brilliant header. Barcelona took the advantage of lengthy added time, after Balde finished off a fantastic counter attack with a timed finish into the bottom corner right at the stroke of half-time.

Despite having a big lead in hand, Barcelona did not settle. Raphinha scored another one after he found acres of space to run into and finished it off with a lethal finish. The game looked like it took a big turn when Szczesny made an irresponsible tackle on Mbappe to stop him on a one vs one situation, getting sent-off as a result. Real Madrid took an advantage of this situation, scoring a brilliant free-kick against the newly substituted Pena. Barcelona then tried to slow down the game whenever possible and saw the game out comfortably.
