Tottenham 4-1 Aston Villa player ratings as Dominic Solanke’s brace helps Spurs thrash the Lions

Tottenham Hotspur defeated Aston Villa 4-1 in the Premier League on Sunday at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium following up the 2-1 victory against Manchester City in the Carabao cup. Villa was the first one to score with the help of Morgam Rogers but then came the mayhem as Tottenham came back in style to take full three points from the game.

In the second half, Tottenham were spot on with their passing and continued to build pressure on Aston Villa. They levelled the score around the 49th minute with the help of Brennan Johnson. Then came in the double of Dominic Solanke and at the end a stunning free kick from substitute James Maddison.

Guglielmo Vicario: 6.9/10- He had a decent game between the sticks as his distribution was top notch. He conceded a goal and made only one save through out the 90 minutes

Defenders

Pedro Porro: 7.5/10- Had a decent game moving up and down the pitch contributing both the defence as well as attack. He had two shots on goal and helped the defence in several occasions.

Destiny Udogie: 7.3/10- Was subbed off around the 82nd minute of the match. Very much effective with his defending and also showed flashes of brilliance moving forward.

Radu Dragusin: 6.8/10- He had a good game at the heart of the defence and also was good with his passing. He was also contributing in attack.

Cristian Romero: 7.3/10- He was subbed off around the 61st minute due to some physical problems. He helped the team in attack also helping the team maintain a high line of pressure for the attack.

Midfielders

Rodrigo Bentancur: 7.2/10- He was subbed off around the 56th minute and had total three shots on goal for his team. Nearly scored an own goal by heading the ball to Vicario from a corner kick, but Rogers still buried home from close range on the rebound.

Pepe Matar Sarr: 7.8/10- Had a good game on the right side of the midfield. In total he had four shots on goal and one of his shot went just wide off the post from outside the box after collecting the ball from Richarlison.

Dejan Kulusevski: 7.5/10 – Had a good game helping the team sometimes in transition.Overhit a pass to Johnson on a great counter and also had his through-ball blocked by Ezri Konsa in the second half. But provided the assist to Solanke’s first. after great link-up with Johnson.

Attackers

Brennan Johnson: 8.1/10 – Kept knocking the door in the first half and produced the equaliser soon after the break by latching on to Son’s cross. Back on the scoresheet after a few weeks.

Heung-min Son: 7.8/10 – Had a great game on the left wing for Tottenham. Delivered a whipping left footed cross to set up Brennan Johnson’s equalsier. Was hauled off before the hour mark by Postecoglou possibly to manage his playing time.

Dominic Solanke: 9/10 – Had a fantastic game as a striker. Solanke produced a masterful performance with his great finishing abilities. Showed great composure for his first goal and slotted home a precise strike during a quick counter for his second.

Substitutes

Yves Bissouma: 6.6/10- Substituted in place of Rodrigo Bentancur and had a decent impact on the game.

Richarlison: 7.0/10- He replaced Son at the 56th minute and then was again replaced later in the game.

Ben Davies: 6.6/10- Was brought in place of Cristian Romero, who was struggling on the pitch with a niggle.

James Maddison: N/A- Replaced a substitute Richarlison in the 82nd minute and scored a goal for his team.

Manager

Ange Postecoglou: 7/10- Managed his team well to negate the tactics of Unai Emery. He also used his substitutions well to inject the fresh legs and not let the tempo of the match fall down.

Emi Martinez: 5.2/10- Had a very poor game conceding four goals in the game and made only two saves. His distribution throughout the game was not bad but was average. Couldn’t stop Johnson’s effort from close-range but made a top save against Solanke.

Defenders

Pau Torres: 4.2/10 – The Spaniard had a horrible game as he was beaten by Son’s brilliant cross for Spurs’ equaliser. Failed to deal with Solanke’s first goal and made an erratic pass in the lead up to the English man’s second.

Ezri Konsa: 6.1/10- Had an average game in the heart of defence. He was good with his passing and made few good clearances. He also made two crucial blocks against Solanke and Kulusevski

Lucas Digne: 5.7/10- The left back did not have a very great game but was at times helping the attackers. He created four chances in attack for his team and also helped pretty much in defence.

Matty Cash: 6.9/10- He was subbed off around the 60 minute mark due to injury concerns but was somewhat decent during his time on the pitch.

Midfielders

Amadou Onana: 6.1/10- Blocked a shot from Sun in the 1st half before forcing a great save from Vicario with a leaping header in the first half. Defensively solid throughout the game

Youri Tielemans: 6.4/10- Was good in the midfield as was forced to be in defensive positions due to Tottenham’s dominance. He helped in creating three chances for his team.

John McGinn: 6.7/10- The Scottish midfielder had a decent game on the right side of the midfield. He had two shots on goal and was able create multiple opportunities for his team.

Jacob Ramsey: 6.9/10- Was good with his carrying on the left-flank but lacked the end product. He had a shot on goal but was blocked.

Attackers

Morgan Rogers: 7.8/10- Showcased great finishing instincts by netting home from close range and also threaded in a great through ball to Ollie Watkins in the counter.

Ollie Watkins: 5.7/10- The attacker had a very poor game as he lacked positioning and both of his shots were very wide off the goal.

Diego Carlos: 6.2/10- He replaced Matty Cash in defence around the 60th minute and had a decent game.
