In a last-minute Deadline Day move, Fulham have clinched a deal in principle to secure Chelsea forward Armando Broja on loan until the conclusion of the current season.
The loan agreement, potentially valued at £4 million, is contingent on Broja’s appearances and performance during his tenure with Fulham.
Having featured in 19 appearances across all competitions this season, the 22-year-old striker was a sought-after asset, with Wolves also expressing interest on Deadline Day, although negotiations with the Molineux club fell through.
Fulham’s pursuit of Broja intensified following an injury setback to Raul Jimenez, who is set to be sidelined for several weeks due to a hamstring injury sustained in the recent 0-0 draw against Everton. Manager Marco Silva had highlighted the need for a quality centre-forward, emphasizing that it was a priority even before Jimenez’s injury.
Broja, who had a successful loan spell at Southampton, where he netted nine times in 38 games, will bolster attacking options for Fulham. Chelsea, in turn, will rely on Nicolas Jackson, Cole Palmer, and Christopher Nkunku as their recognized first-team striking choices.
The move signifies Fulham’s commitment to reinforcing their attacking prowess, a pursuit that persisted throughout the transfer window.
Despite limited goal-scoring opportunities for Broja at Chelsea, his prior Premier League success with Southampton has fueled optimism that he can replicate such form at Craven Cottage.
The completion of this deal marks the culmination of Fulham’s persistent efforts to secure Broja’s services.
