Jadon Sancho Injury: Dortmund winger in contention to feature against Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday

Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho could be available for the club’s Bundesliga match against Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday, March 17.

Manager Edin Terzic delivered a positive update about the Englishman ahead of the game.

Jadon Sancho: Type of injury & severity

Jadon Sancho started in Borussia Dortmund’s 2-0 win over PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League on March 13. The Englishman made a great start to the game and scored in just the third minute to put his team 1-0 up. However, Sancho was subbed off with discomfort in the 75th minute.

What earlier appeared to be a thigh injury that would rule him out for a couple of weeks turned out to be a precautionary step. Manager Terzic confirmed the same in his press conference on Friday, March 15.

“Jadon is to take part in the final training session tomorrow and then we will see.

“Frankfurt have garnered good points in the last games. We have high pace and we will prepare ourselves for that. We are ready to take the next steps. We want to go into the international break with a victory.”

Going by the manager’s words, it seems Sancho is fit enough to make the bench but a call on whether he will start will be taken in the 11th hour.

Borussia Dortmund so far this season

Dortmund are currently fifth in the Bundesliga with 47 points from 25 games and trail leaders Bayer Leverkusen by a whopping 20 points. They are just two points outside the Champions League spots for next season and will look for a win against Frankfurt.

The Black & Yellow are still competing in the Champions League this season, though. Having defeated PSV 3-1 on aggregate in the round of 16, they will now face Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals.

However, the league and the UCL are the only trophies Dortmund can compete for this season. They won the First and Second rounds of the DFB-Pokal but were knocked out of the round of 16 after losing 2-0 to Stuttgart.
