Arsenal Eyes Ajax Teenager Jorrel Hato for Long-Term Defensive Reinforcement

Currently, with 18 months left on his existing contract, Hato has attracted attention due to his standout performances, even amid a challenging season for Ajax. The Dutch international’s contract situation has put him on Arsenal’s radar, although Ajax are keen on securing him to a new long-term deal.

Recognized as a bright spot in Ajax’s recent campaigns, Hato’s potential move to Arsenal is speculated to materialize more concretely in the summer rather than during the ongoing January transfer window. Hato, expressing his aspirations earlier this season, mentioned his desire to follow in Timber’s footsteps and make a move to the Premier League. In an interview with ELF Voetbal in October, Hato acknowledged Timber’s unfortunate injury but praised his move to Arsenal, stating,

“It is also my dream to one day make such a transfer, but I realize that I still have a very long way to go.”

Despite his youth, Hato has already captained Ajax and made his first senior international appearance in November. He has been a consistent presence on the field this season, playing every minute of every match for Ajax, who currently sit fifth in the Eredivisie.
