The Reds have been without several first-team players for much of the campaign and their injury crisis got worse during the international break.
Latest update on Trent-Alexander Arnold injury
Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander Arnold has been out of action since the club’s 3-1 win over Burnley on February 10 due to a torn knee ligament. The vice-captain is nearing a return after he has been sidelined for the majority of 2024 and is reportedly targeting a comeback for the Man United game on Sunday, April 7.
Klopp has confirmed that the Englishman is nearing a return but won’t be available against Brighton this weekend. He responded:
“He is still injured, but he’s getting closer.”
The versatile defender was unavailable for England’s friendlies against Brazil and Belgium during the international break. Liverpool youngster Conor Bradley has done well in Alexander-Arnold’s absence and has produced top performances for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Liverpool injury news and return dates
The Reds have a lengthy injury list and are set to be without 10 first-team players this weekend when they welcome Brighton at Anfield. Andy Robertson is the latest addition to the list who suffered an ankle injury during the international break with Scotland. The likes of Ibrahima Konate, Luis Diaz, and Cody Gakpo are expected to return this weekend.
Andy Robertson – The defender has already missed 24 games for Liverpool this season due to a shoulder injury he sustained in the October international break. But his ankle injury may only keep him out for the first week of April.
Darwin Nunez – The Urguuyan striker suffered a hamstring injury in Liverpool’s FA Cup defeat at Old Trafford but the medical staff remains hopeful that the injury isn’t a serious one. He could be available this weekend against Brighton.
Curtis Jones – The Liverpool midfielder has been out of action since February but Klopp ensured the England international could play a part this weekend against the Seagulls.
Alisson Becker – The Brazilian shot-stopper has been unavailable since February with a hamstring injury and wasn’t involved in the international friendlies with Brazil during the international break. An exact return for Liverpool’s No. 1 remains unknown.
Diogo Jota – The winger was stretchered off in Liverpool’s 4-1 win over Brentford and it was suspected that Jota could be out for weeks. The Portuguese has been earmarked for a comeback against Manchester United on April 7.
Thiago Alcantara (hip) and Joel Matip (knee) may not play again this season and seemingly played their last game for the Reds as both veterans are expected to leave this summer.
