Liverpool interested in signing Arsenal’s target in the summer

Liverpool are reportedly monitoring players as potential long-term replacements for Mohamed Salah, who could leave the club in the summer. According to Fichajes.net, they are interested in Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto, who has also been linked with Arsenal.

The Reds received a massive £150 million bid for Salah from Al-Ittihad towards the end of last summer’s transfer window but they rejected the offer. The Saudi Arabian side is expected to make another offer for the Egyptian winger in the upcoming summer window.

With Salah turning 32 years old in June, Liverpool may consider allowing him to leave for a big fee. Hence, they are on the lookout for a potential long-term replacement.

They have identified Neto as a potential option. The Portuguese winger has impressed since joining Wolves from Lazio back in 2019. While he has had to deal with numerous injury issues, Neto has registered 12 goals and 22 assists in 123 games for Wolves.

Arsenal have also been linked with the 23-year-old many times in the past but haven’t taken any concrete steps to sign him. Moreover, with Bukayo Saka on the right wing, Neto might be a rotation option rather than a regular starter at the Emirates.

Filling Salah’s shoes at Liverpool, though, won’t be easy. The ‘Egyptian King’ joined Liverpool from AS Roma in 2015 and has since recorded 204 goals and 88 assists in 332 games for them. He has helped the club win every trophy available, including the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

Neto, however, has shown his ability on the right wing this season. He missed nine games due to a hamstring injury but has made eight assists in 11 Premier League games, also scoring once. The Portugal international’s contract with Wolves expires in 2027 and as per Transfermarkt, his market value is €42 million.
