Manchester City played out a 1-1 draw at home against Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday, January 17.

The hosts put in a dominant performance in the first half. They kept the ball for nearly two-thirds of the time, attempting 14 shots. However, just two of those were on target as Pep Guardiola’s men were made to regret being wasteful.

Their lack of intensity allowed Chelsea to open the scoring on the brink of half-time. Nicolas Jackson provided an assist for Raheem Sterling to score to make it 1-0 as the Blues led at the break.

City made a similarly strong start to the second period in terms of possession and looked to play Chelsea off the pitch. However, the visitors showed resilience and dug deep to fend off the hosts’ incessant attacks.
