Gleison Bremer

Manchester United are in a pole position to sign Juventus defender Gleison Bremer

Manchester United are in a pole position to sign Brazil and Juventus centre-back Gleison Bremer. The player is reported to be open for a move to Manchester despite having an active contract with the Italian giants until 2028. Juventus have put a £51 million release clause for anyone who was interested to sign him and United have considered to explore the opportunity.

United have problems with defenders as some of their defenders are in and out for injury. Victor Lindelof, Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, and Jonny Evans are struggling with injuries, leaving only Harry Maguire as main option.

Gleison Bremer is Max Allegri’s favourite since the beginning

Bremer has been one of the most regular picks for Max Allegri with Juventus this season, playing in 28 games with two goals scored. He came from Juve’s city rival Torino for £37 million. Juve on the other hand are preparing another replacement if Manchester United really come with a serious offer.

When Bremer arrived in Turin, Allegri praised the Brazilian’s quality in the defensive line. The former AC Milan manager had high expectations from the player which has been quite well met so far.

“I am very happy with the arrival of Bremer, he has the characteristics we were looking for and is very physical,” Allegri said. “There aren’t many defenders of that level around and the club did very well to replace De Ligt promptly.”

Gaining appreciation from a Juventus legend

Bremer also gained an appreciation from Juventus legend, Sergio Brio. The four-time Serie A champion described Bremer as a composed player and one of the best defenders in the league at the moment.

“Juve’s strong point is definitely the defense,” Brio said via One Football. “They concede few goals and are showing great solidity. I really like Bremer. He’s an exceptional player with great timing and positioning on the pitch.

“The Brazilian is the best defender in Serie A today. I’m certain of it.”
