Tijjani Reijnders to Manchester United

Manchester United Eyes AC Milan’s Tijjani Reijnders as Top Transfer Target

Manchester United‘s head coach, Erik ten Hag, has reportedly identified AC Milan’s midfield stalwart, Tijjani Reijnders, as a primary transfer target for the upcoming summer window.

The 25-year-old Dutch midfielder has caught the attention of Ten Hag following his impressive performances at San Siro since his £16.3m move from AZ Alkmaar in 2023.

Tijjani Reijnders has made a significant impact in Serie A, contributing two goals and three assists in 24 appearances this season.

His versatility, adeptness in midfield, and solid performances have also earned him a spot in the Netherlands national team, where he made six appearances last year, starting three Euro 2024 qualifiers.

Despite Reijnders’ contract with AC Milan running until the end of the 2027-28 season, Manchester United are reportedly undeterred and willing to pursue the midfielder, even at the hefty price tag of €60m (£51.4m). Paris Saint-Germain has also shown interest in securing Reijnders’ services.

Manchester United’s midfield has seen recent additions, including Mason Mount from Chelsea and Sofyan Amrabat on loan from Fiorentina.

However, Mount has faced injury challenges, while Amrabat’s adaptation to the Premier League has been difficult. The club is looking to strengthen its midfield options, with Reijnders emerging as a potential solution.

As Manchester United prepares for potential changes in its leadership structure, including the appointment of INEOS founder Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the potential arrival of Newcastle United’s Dan Ashworth as sporting director, the pursuit of Reijnders signals the club’s ambition to bolster its squad ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
