Man United vs Liverpool player ratings as Red Devils seal semifinal spot

Manchester United sealed their place in the FA Cup semifinal with a dramatic win over Liverpool in extra time. The Red Devils managed a 4-3 win over their arch-rivals at Old Trafford thanks to a late goal by Amad Diallo.

Scott McTominay opened the scoring in the first half, but Alexis Mac Allister and Mohamed Salah scored right at the end of give Liverpool a 2-1 lead before the break. The Reds looked set to win the game in normal time before Antony scored the equalizer in the 87th minute. 

Harvey Elliott restored Liverpool’s lead in the 105th minute, but Marcus Rashford made but for his miss in normal time with a crucial equalizer in the 112th minute. 

Liverpool got a corner in the 120th minute but it resulted in Amad Diallo scoring the winner for Manchester United on a quick counter. Here are the player ratings from the game:

Manchester United player ratings:

André Onana – 8 | Should have done a lot better for the second goal, but was good overall.

Diogo Dalot – 7 | Was brilliant in the first half until Liverpool scored, and his performance dipped since. 

Victor Lindelöf – 6.5 | Did well against Darwin Nunez, but was losing possession a lot and won just one duel in the game. 

Raphaël Varane – 7 | Manchester United’s best defender from those who started the game. Lost just one duel but could not play the full match. 

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 7 | Started as the left-back today to deal with Salah and did extremely well to keep the Egyptian quiet until the Liverpool star scored.

Scott McTominay – 9 | Scored and assisted for Manchester United and was easily their best player today.

Kobbie Mainoo – 8.5 | The youngster was oozing with confidence and was able to get past the Liverpool players with ease. 

Alejandro Garnacho – 6.5 | Played the full match but was not able to make any significant impact until he assisted the winner deep into extra time. 

Bruno Fernandes – 7 | Started as an attacking midfielder and finished as a center-back. Was all over the pitch and doing his best but just did not manage to click. 

Marcus Rashford – 7.5 | Missed a golden chance to win it in the 94th minute but scored in extra time to level things up again for Manchester United.

Rasmus Højlund – 6.5 | Was doing his best to get into the right positions, but just did not get the right ball inside the box. 

Harry Maguire – 8 | Was a threat for Liverpool in attack more than defense as he got into the box a lot and tried to get on the scoresheet. 

Antony – 7.5 | Manchester United’s unlikely hero in normal time as he came off the bench to score in the 87th minute.

Christian Eriksen – 7 | Almost pulled off a stunning assist but managed to do his job well and help his side control the midfield in extra time. 

Amad Diallo – 7.5 | Scored the winner and got sent off for his celebration. Will be a day to remember for the youngster as he has been fighting to get his chance under Erik ten Hag.

Mason Mount – 6 | Hardly made an impact after coming on in the extra time. 

Liverpool player ratings:

Caoimhin Kelleher – 7.5 | Could not repeat his heroics from the Carabao Cup clash against Chelsea but still made seven saves in the game. 

Joe Gomez – 6 | Played over 100 minutes in the game but lost most of his duels.

Jarell Quansah – 6.5 | Managed to do his best to keep Rasmus Hojlund quiet but could not do much when Marcus Rashford was playing up front. 

Virgil van Dijk – 7 | Solid display from the captain once again, but should have done a lot more for Rashford’s goal.

Andrew Robertson – 7.5 | Pick of the Liverpool defenders today and could have easily got on the scoresheet too in the first half.

Alexis Mac Allister – 8 | Scored the opening goal but was finding it hard to keep control of the match in the midfield. 

Wataru Endo – 6 | The game breezed past him today and he was hardly able to make an impact. Found the back of the net once, but it was ruled out for offside. 

Dominik Szoboszlai – 6.5 | Kept shooting from outside the box but none of the shots troubled Andre Onana.

Mohamed Salah – 8 | Scored just before the half-time whistle in normal time but was finding it hard to get past Wan-Bissaka and Dalot. 

Darwin Núñez – 7 | Was having a very good game but his poor pass helped Manchester United get their 3rd goal of the match.

Luis Díaz – 7.5 | Tried his best to get past Dalot but was having a hard time linking up with his teammates. 

Harvey Elliott – 7 | A Deflected goal helped him get a better rating but was hardly able to replicate his previous performance for Liverpool.

Conor Bradley – 7.5 | Did his best after replacing Andy Robertson and was smart to push Amad Diallo away from the goal, but the Manchester United star still found the back of the net in the final minutes. 

Cody Gakpo – 6 | Hardly made an impact after coming on in the 77th minute. Made the wrong decision more often than not in the final third. 

Konstantinos Tsimikas – 6 | Did not impact the game after coming on the extra time. 

Bobby Clark – 6 | Did not impact the game after coming on the extra time.
