In a surprising turn of events, Maurizio Sarri has tendered his resignation as the head coach of Serie A side Lazio, marking the end of his tenure with the Italian club.
Maurizio Sarri Leaves Lazio on Immidiate Basis
The news was first reported by football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who revealed Sarri’s decision via his X account on Tuesday. Romano stated, “Maurizio Sarri has just resigned as Lazio manager — he has informed the club early this afternoon.”
Sarri’s departure comes amidst a string of disappointing results for Lazio in the Serie A campaign.
Despite initially making strides with the team, this season has seen a downturn in performance attributed to various factors such as an ageing squad, poor squad construction, and the failure to adequately replace key players like Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
While Sarri’s tenure at Lazio showcased moments of promise, including consecutive fifth and second-place finishes in previous seasons, the current campaign has been marred by inconsistency, with Lazio languishing in ninth place in the league standings.

Lazio in Search of New Manager
The 65-year-old Sarri, who took charge of Lazio in the summer of 2021, leaves behind a record of 65 victories, 30 draws, and 42 defeats in 137 matches at the helm of the Biancocelesti.
As Lazio now searches for a new manager to navigate the challenges ahead, Sarri’s resignation marks a significant development in the club’s journey, signalling a period of transition and uncertainty as they seek to regain momentum in Serie A.
