Khvicha Kvaratskhelia Injury: Forward set to miss Atlanta tie

A Khvicha Kvaratskhelia injury will force Napoli to face Atlanta without the forward as the Georgian sustained an injury in Georgia’s qualifier against Greece.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia injury expected to sideline the forward for Atlanta tie

In a report published on their website after Thursday’s training session, Napoli confirmed an adductor injury to star forward Kvaratskhelia. The report on the Khvicha Kvaratskhelia injury indicated that tests revealed a ‘strong contracture of the adductor muscle of the left thigh.’ While the report didn’t reveal the amount of time Khvicha is expected to spend on the sidelines, it seems very likely that the forward will miss the crucial tie against Atlanta in Serie A as a precaution to prevent further damage. Despite the injury, the forward trained in the gym in isolation and also underwent therapy.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia helped Georgia qualify for their first Euro

The Georgian international sustained the injury during Georgia’s Euro qualifier final against Greece. The Khvicha Kvaratskhelia injury forced Georgia to compete without the presence of the Napoli star in extra time. Despite his absence in the penalty shootouts, Georgia grabbed a sensational win in the shootout to secure their first ever berth in the European championship.  Georgia will now join Portugal, Turkiye and Czech Republic in Group F of the Euros Group stage which will commence in June late this year.

It remains to be seen how many matches Khvicha will miss with the injury, but Napoli seem positive of a quick return. The Georgian’s absence against Atlanta could hurt Napoli as the forward has scored ten goals and assisted six goals for the Italian side across all competitions this season.
