Aaron Christopher Ramsdale was born on 14 May 1998 in Staffordshire. He was raised in the nearby village of Chesterton. Ramsdale began his career at Newcastle-based club Marsh Town. He was taken to  Bolton Wanderers football club for a trial by goalkeeping coach Fred Barber.
