Alexander Isak

Bad news for the Magpies as Alexander Isak to miss the big fixture between Newcastle and Everton

News suggests the Newcastle star Alexander Isak is set to miss Saturday’s fixture between Newcastle and Everton. The exclusion of the Swedish striker from the national team has confirmed the rumors.

While the news is rather good for the Toffees, Newcastle will surely miss their frontline superstar in the important fixture. Facing Slovakia first and Estonia second, Sweden will also miss their frontline threat as they head onto the Nations League in the second week of October.

The Swedish striker was absent during the City game where the Magpies drew with the Sky Blues 1-1. Costing Newcastle £63 million, Alexander Isak came to Newcastle back in 2022 from Real Sociedad. Earlier this month, the Newcastle striker faced a broken toe injury against Wolves, where the Magpies had a 2-1 win.

Against the AFC Wimbledon, he was already ruled out on the Carabao Cup fixture. The Newcastle Manager was already doubtful of his availability as they travel to Goodison Park this Saturday. And the recent tweet pretty much seals the news and the Swedish star can miss up to 5 matches.

What Howe said about Alexander Isak

Looking at the injury blow, the Toon boss said:

“He (Isak) definitely won’t feature on Tuesday. Let’s see how he looks for Everton, and of course there’s an international period coming up after that and he’s an international player, so we’ll see the implications of all that.”

The boss also said:

“But we’ll make decisions during this week. We know it’s not a serious injury, but it’s a niggly one that’s obviously preventing a key player playing for us.”

With the ex-Everton winger’s equalizer, the Magpies have drawn their match against the mighty Manchester City, which has made Liverpool the table topper so far. The added worries of Sandro Tonali and Trippier are a massive blow as well for Newcastle United. While the magpies are also missing the combination of their preferred center backs, they are hopeful that for both Tonali and Trippier, it is just a cramp and they are available.
