Anthony Gordon to Liverpool

Liverpool’s interest in Anthony Gordon might deny Arsenal another Newcastle Star

Anthony Gordon to Liverpool: Reports

As reported by ‘Daily Star’ and quoted by ‘Transfer News Live’ on ‘X’, The Premier League giants Liverpool FC are reportedly interested in signing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United. The 23-year-old has been one of the most consistent performers for the Toons in the ongoing top-flight campaign, having registered 10 goals and 10 assists in his 34 appearances in the league so far this season.

Gordon joined Newcastle in January 2023 from Everton. His current contract with the club does dart till June 2026. The player made his mark in the Premier League during his early days with the Toffees, who are the local rivals of Liverpool, which adds another cheeky little debatable dimension to this transfer report related to the Reds.

With Jurgen Klopp leaving at the end of the 2023-2024 season and Arne Slot set to take over the Merseyside club’s managerial role from the next campaign, the Reds are expected to remain active in the upcoming transfer window. Despite Liverpool having first-team players like Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, and Cody Gapko when it comes to the left-wing department, having a player like Anthony Gordon would further enhance Arne Slot’s team’s strength and depth in that area of the field.

Arsenal could be denied to pursue their interest in Alexander Isak if Liverpool lands Anthony Gordon

As reported by ‘Daily Express’, Liverpool’s attempt to sign Anthony Gordon could turn out to be the roadblock in the plan for Arsenal to go and get Newcastle’s striker Alexander Isak in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Gunners have been linked with the in-form forward often in recent times, with their search for a potent center-forward still marching on.

The Toons won’t be in dire need to sell both of their star players in the approaching transfer window as far as their FFP situations are concerned. Even if they do want to cash in on the higher ceiling values of these players, they could be well satisfied by just selling one of them, and if Liverpool manages to get a deal for Gordon through the door nice and early, the Gunners might struggle to acquire Isak, as Newcastle might no longer be interested in off-loading another pivotal player.

Having said that, it looks kind of ominous that Mikel Arteta’s side would be looking to pitch out a striker in the upcoming window to set the last piece of the puzzle in their squad correctly. Despite Kai Havertz filling that void this season by stepping up and scoring goals, a potent center-forward could make the Londoners a really lethal team to come up against.
