Antony the Brazilian winger who joined Manchester United for a hefty €100 million is determined to make his mark in the upcoming season.
Reflecting on his turbulent 2023-24 season which included off-field issues and struggles on the pitch Antony has laid out a clear plan for improvement. With a renewed focus and a strong mentality the 24-year-old is set to prove his worth at Old Trafford.
Focused on Improvement: Antony Goals for the New Season
Antony is well aware of his underwhelming statistics from last season—three goals and two assists. Determined to turn things around he has started writing down specific goals on paper including areas where he needs to improve.
“I definitely need more goal participations and to score more goals,” Antony said during an interview at Manchester United’s Beverly Hills hotel. He added, “Rest assured, you’ll hear the name Antony in relation to goals and assists.”
Antony’s determination is evident as he consults his written objectives daily. If he doesn’t have them on hand he asks his wife Rosilene Silva to send pictures.
“I’m 100 percent prepared and focused to help United,” Antony emphasized, showing his commitment to making a strong comeback this season.
Overcoming Adversity: Learning from the Past
The past year was challenging for Antony both personally and professionally. Allegations of domestic abuse which he denies took a toll on him affecting his performance on the pitch.
Despite these difficulties, Antony is focused on moving forward. “I’ve learnt from it all, I’ve grown and matured. I believe I learnt a lot from the adversity,” he said.
Antony’s connection to his roots in Inferninho a favela in Brazil remains a source of strength. He carries the name of his neighbourhood tattooed on his neck and keeps its memory close to his heart.
“When people talk about me or criticize me, I always find solace in where I came from,” he shared. This deep connection to his past drives Antony to succeed and prove his doubters wrong.

A New Season, A New Mindset
As the new season approaches Antony is eager to show what he’s capable of. He acknowledges the challenges he faced last season including being moved to full-back during games which left him feeling uneasy.
But he’s ready to put those experiences behind him and focus on the future. “As I said—new season, new mindset. I’m a lot more focused and prepared to achieve great things,” Antony stated.
With the support of his manager Erik ten Hag and a clear set of objectives, Antony is determined to contribute more to Manchester United’s success this season. “You’ll see the results this season,” he confidently declared, promising fans that his hard work will pay off.
