Arsenal vs Brentford Preview, Prediction and Betting Tips

Arsenal vs Brentford Match Preview

Arsenal vs Brentford in the Premier League will take place at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, March 9, as the third-placed side plays host to the 15th placed side.

The Gunners enter this contest on the back of a great run of form. They have won their last seven Premier League games on the bounce, scoring 31 goals and conceding just three. This run has seen them score the highest number of goals in 2024 as well as earn the highest goal difference in the league so far. Their last outing was a 6-0 drubbing of Sheffield United at Bramall Lane as Arsenal continued their ruthless run. They were looking to add to that run with another win.

The Bees, on the other hand, have won just once across their last seven games. During that run, they have lost five and drawn one game. Brentford have shipped a worrying 17 goals in these seven games and have managed just one clean sheet. Their last game was a 2-2 draw against Chelsea at the Gtech Community Stadium in a game that saw two lead changes. Just six points off the drop zone, they knew they needed to win to ensure safety.

That said, let’s take a look at the team news emerging from both camps ahead of this contest.

Team News

The good news for manager Mikel Arteta is that his team’s injury list is shortening just before the business end of the season. Multiple players returned from injury layoffs and made appearances off the bench in their win against Sheffield United.

Defensive trio of Takehiro Tomiyasu, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jurrien Timber are the only ones that will remain sidelined. They could return before the end of March. Meanwhile, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli picked up small injuries in their last game and should be back into the XI to face Brentford.

Brentford

Manager Thomas Frank will have a lengthy injury list to deal with ahead of his side’s trip to North London. Most of the players out are defenders, posing a big selection problem for the manager.

Defenders Rico Henry (knee), Aaron Hickey (hamstring) and Ethan Pinnock (ankle) are all out long-term and will miss the next few games. Ben Mee missed the last game and is doubtful for the next, which if he misses, will mean the Bees will be without their entire first-choice backline.

Other key players injured are midfielder Josh Dasilva (knee) and Bryan Mbeumo (ankle), who will also miss the next game.

Arsenal vs Brentford Head-to-Head Record

These two clubs have met few times officially in recent history, since they have never really played much in the same division until Brentford were promoted to the Premier League.

In five meetings since, Arsenal dominate the head-to-head record with four wins, with the teams sharing one draw.

Prediction

The Gunners seem unstoppable currently with the form they are in. Add to that players returning from injury, which will only make their ability to control games better. Brentford also have a lot of defensive injuries and will struggle against a top side away from home.

Prediction: Arsenal 4-0 Brentford.
