Atalanta shook the world on Thursday night as Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad battered Liverpool three goals to nil at Anfield. It was La Dea’s second consecutive win in Merseyside after doing so back in November 2020.

With the league agenda coming on Monday, Atalanta are scheduling a training session behind closed doors this Saturday. Giasperini will regroup his players to shift the focus on Serie A including the two goal scorers at Anfield, Gianluca Scamacca and Mario Pasalic.

Atalanta will still be without Sead Kolasinac and Giorgio Scalvini who are undergoing injury rehabs with the medical team. The aforementioned player’s returning date is still unknown while Scalvini is expected to get his feet back on the pitch by May.

Quarter-final has been the best result Atalanta could get, being there three times during their six participations in Europa League. The victory at Anfield put them in a favored position to secure the semifinal spot for the first time.

Liverpool

Liverpool on the other hand, are desperately trying to win another trophy this season after winning the Carabao Cup back in February. However, a shocking home defeat has made the target seem to fade away. The only way for Mohamed Salah and co to overturn the table is by winning the second leg with a four-goal margin, which historically was possible.

Jurgen Klopp and his staff are learning carefully about the possibility of several key players returning to the squad. Diogo Jota, Alisson Becker, and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been training separately from the first squad as part of their rehabilitation process.
