Aymeric Laporte injury

Al-Nassr defender doubtful for Spain’s opening Euro 2024 fixture – Reports

Aymeric Laporte has sustained a muscle injury

Spain’s national football team has been gearing up to face Croatia in their opening fixture of the UEFA Euro 2024 on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the Olympiasiadion Berlin. However, the Aymeric Laporte injury has dented a major blow to Luis de la Fuente’s team ahead of the big clash.

As reported by ‘Xinhua’, the defender has suffered a muscle injury and is pretty much in doubt for his country’s upcoming Euro 2024 match. Further pointed out by ‘Football Espana‘, the 30-year-old Al-Nassr player was also not a part of Spain’s training session ahead of their match against Croatia.

This of course comes as a major setback for the team as Aymeric Laporte is one of the senior members of the squad. His experience and ability to lead and organize the defensive line during crunch moments of a match could be missed severely by Luis de la Fuente if he does fail to make it to the playing eleven for the Croatia game.

Now Spain has the options of players like Dani Vivian and Nacho Fernandez to fill the other center-back slot in the circumstances obtained by Aymeric Laporte’s injury. But, Laporte was expected to be the first-choice defender for the manager. If Laporte does get sidelined for the country’s opening Euro match, we might see the defensive line of Dani Carvajal, Robin Le Normand, Nacho Fernandez, and Alejandro Grimaldo for Spain.
