Barcelona and Bayern Munich suffer transfer blow as Bayer Leverkusen refuse to sell Jonathan Tah: Reports

As per journalist Christian Falk, Bayer Leverkusen has informed Jonathan Tah that he won’t be allowed to leave the club. The Germany international was on Barcelona and Bayern Munich’s radar.

Barca are looking to bolster their defense as Eric Garcia has been linked with an exit. Andreas Christensen has also suffered an injury. Bayern, meanwhile, parted ways with Matthijs de Ligt with the Dutchman heading to Manchester United.

Both teams courted Tah, who was pivotal for Leverkusen in their historic unbeaten league campaign last season. The reigning Bundesliga champions, though, have prohibited Tah from leaving. Falk reported on X (formerly Twitter):

“Breaking News: The Deal for a Transfer of Jonathan Tah (28) is off! Leverkusen told the player that he is not allowed to leave the club. FC Bayern and FC Barcelona are already informed.”

Jonathan Tah also played an important role for Germany during Euro 2024. He started four of the five games for Julian Nagelsmann’s team before the hosts crashed out of the quarter-finals. Tah missed the round of 16 game due to suspension. The 28-year-old is now set to stay at Leverkusen and help Xabi Alonso’s side as they look to defend the Bundesliga title. Tah has made 356 appearances for the club since joining in 2015.
