Barcelona are ready to sell Frenkie De Jong to restructure financial situation

Barcelona are reportedly ready to sell Frenkie De Jong to generate money for restructuring their financial situation. On the other hand, De Jong intends to stay longer with the Camp Nou-based club, per transfer expert Alex Intanel.

De Jong is currently suffering from injury which saw him get subbed off before half time when Barcelona faced Real Madrid last weekend. However, the Blaugrana is believed to earn around €60-70 million from the player sales.

Furthermore, ESPN reported that De Jong refused to leave Barcelona as he vowed that Blaugrana is the club of his dreams. He also added that he is irritated about lies circulating regarding his future.

Barca manager Xavi was also reluctant to let De Jong go purely for a football reason. However, the former midfielder has no power to decide things in the club, apart from the fact that he would leave at the end of the season.

Another issue that Barcelona have to face in selling De Jong is the player’s high wage. The Dutch midfielder has a huge salary during his stay in Camp Nou, earning about €60 gross a year. With his current fitness stability, it is unlikely for the suitors to match the number.
