Barcelona have appointed Hansi Flick as their new manager, but are yet to register him with LaLiga. The Catalan side will need to solve their financial crisis and raise funds before they can get the German officially as their coach.
As per a report in MARCA, Barcelona do not have the space to register Flick’s contract with La Liga. They have gone over the limit with the league already following the sacking of Xavi.
Javier Tebas has confirmed that the Catalan side need to adjust their finances to get the German coach on their books. He told the media today:
“They know how the departure of Xavi affects them, they know how the arrival of Flick affects them and they have time to reach this situation. From what we have been able to talk about some important issues on the table, if they close them, they will be able to reach that situation of 1:1. The important thing is that Barça exists and continues to do well and be sustainable.”
Barcelona are still trying to solve their financial crisis but decided to part ways with Xavi. The Spaniard’s dismissal last week saw Flick appointed as his replacement on a 2-year deal.
On joining the Catalan side, the former Bayern Munich coach said:
“First of all I would like to say thank you to everyone. It’s a big honour and also a dream for me to sign my contract at Barcelona and work for this amazing club. I am happy to start. This club is really unbelievable and I think in the hours that I’m here in Barcelona, everyone is amazing, everyone loves this club and tries to give their best for success.”
He added:
“The philosophy they have is similar to mine, so more possession, and really attacking football these are the things I love. Barcelona has one of the best academies in the world, they have a good mix between experience and young talent I think they can improve, it is our job to work together.”
Xavi had initially resigned from his post earlier this season. However, Barcelona convinced him to extend his stay by another season and announced that the manager was staying.
However, things changed this month and the Spaniard was sacked after the final match of the season.
