With Xavi Hernandez taking a u-turn and deciding to stay at Barcelona, the La Liga giants have already started focusing on their future with the club looking to improve their squad. Reports have indicated that Barcelona are planning to let go of several players including Oriol Romeu, Ferran Torres, Joao Cancelo and a few other stars in the summer. That is in order to bring in a few new faces to help strengthen the team.
It has seen the club heavily linked with moves for players across every position except goalkeeper with the club even looking for a new forward. That is despite the fact that they signed Victor Roque in January as Barcelona believe that they need another experienced star to help out. Not only that, reports have indicated that their top target is RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo.
Barcelona touch base with Dani Olmo’s agent over potential move
The now 25-year-old was once a part of Barcelona’s youth academy system, making several appearances for their U18s and U16s squads over the years. However, that was before he opted to leave for Dinamo Zagreb eventually signing for Leipzig four years ago. Since then, Olmo’s star quality has shone in Germany even if injuries have held him back a touch.
But that hasn’t deterred any suitors as the Spaniard has been linked with big-money moves to England, Italy and even within Germany although nothing has materialized yet. That could change as Alex Pintanel has reported that Barcelona are overly keen on bringing Olmo back. The attacker has a €60 million release clause attached to his name but despite that, the La Liga giants are keen on the move.
Reports have indicated that the club believes they can negotiate a lower fee for the 25-year-old although Football Espana has reported that it may be tougher than that. The report has indicated that Leipzig plan to hold steadfast on the release clause and they can as Olmo’s contract only expires in the summer of 2027. The report has also revealed that Barcelona have already had contact with Olmo’s agent and the Spaniard is reportedly open to the move.
