Speaking at the launch event of Barcelona’s new OTT service, Barca One, Laporta was open about his plans for Araujo. He said:

“I’d give Ronald Araújo’s a lifetime contract here at Barcelona!”

Araujo has a contract until 2026 but is a target for Bayern Munich. The German giants reportedly made an offer for the defender in January but their €90 million bid was rejected.

The defender has already confirmed that he has no plans to leave as he is happy at Barcelona. He was talking to the media when he said:

“I remain composed. These are matters handled by my representatives and the club. Internally, the club has conveyed the same tranquillity and assured me that everything will be sorted soon. I have demonstrated my satisfaction and commitment by renewing my contract. That is the essence. I believe these issues will be resolved. I have rejected significant offers, some surpassing what I receive here. Nonetheless, my happiness lies here. I have received immense love, and this feels like home. That’s what matters most.”

Xavi is leaving Barcelona at the end of the season, but he is parting ways by giving them a lot of advice. He publically urged the club not to sell Araujo and stated that the Uruguayan star is the club’s present and future.

“For me there is no doubt. Araujo is the present and the future of Barça. He is already one of the captains and a leader of the locker room. He is a fundamental footballer for the future of the club.”

The defender joined Barcelona from Boston River in 2018 and was promoted to the first team in 2019.
