Barcelona vs Las Palmas Preview, Prediction and Betting Tips

Barcelona faces Las Palmas at home with implications to gain a better grip over the 2nd spot to keep the title race alive.

Barcelona vs Las Palmas Preview

  • Date: 30/03/24
  • Kick-off time: 8:00 pm (GMT)
  • Venue: Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys

As we near the end of the season, Barcelona’s title hopes are hanging by a thread. Currently in second place behind leaders Real Madrid by eight points, who seem to be racing to the finish line. Only a win would suffice if there is any chance of salvaging their hopes for the title, which seems increasingly slim as the Spanish giants need to keep winning, hoping for a slip-up at the top. Champions League aspirants Girona are also breathing down their necks, just two points behind with a similar goal difference.

Barcelona is also enjoying a fine run of form with three wins on the bounce. Starting with a 1-0 win over Mallorca, followed by a 3-1 victory over Napoli, before a comfortable three points over Atletico Madrid. Having won four La Liga matches of their last six at home, drawing and losing the others, the hosts will be a tough nut to crack this weekend.

On the other hand, Las Palmas occupies the 11th spot with no big Champions League aims nor relegation threat. However, there is pressure to win, as the side have returned empty-handed in their last five fixtures.

During the winless period, Las Palmas conceded 12 goals, meaning Barca had plenty of chances to get their name on the scoresheet. With players like Robert Lewandowski, who is the top scorer of the team this season, and 16-year-old wonder Lamine Yamal grabbing the spotlight by finding the back of the net four times, the visitors will have to rely on Kirian Rodriguez to step up and make a difference.

The last three games for the visitors were not so memorable, with a 3-3 draw against Getafe, followed by a 2-0 defeat at Athletic Bilbao and a 0-1 loss to Almeria. Las Palmas won twice, while also recording two draws and a defeat in their last six La Liga games.
