Bayern Munich return to Champions League semis after four years

Bayern Munich are in the semifinal of the Champions League for the first time in four years. Hosting Arsenal at Allianz Arena, the game was fairly an even contest with both teams having almost identical ball possession.

It was Joshua Kimmich who sealed the victory for Bayern in the 63rd minute with his first Champions League goal of the season. Bayern will face Real Madrid in the semi-final.

Bayern Munich return to Champions League semis

Bayern have reached their 13th Champions League semi-final with only Madrid being there more number of times. Meanwhile for Arsenal, this defeat means The Gunners have lost eight times against the Bavarian-based side in the tournament, two more than any other club.

For Harry Kane and Eric Dier, the former Tottenham duo stepped into the second semifinal ever in their career. The first one was in 2019 when they were still playing for the London club.

This season is also the first time since 2020 that two German teams secured the semifinal spot. That time, Bayern and RB Leipzig managed to go that far but failed to make an All-German Final. However, the last time Bayern and Dortmund were in the semifinal, they went through the final in 2013, which was also played at Wembley.
