Bayern Munich confirms contacting Ralf Rangnick as Thomas Tuchel’s replacement

Bayern Munich are in talks with Ralf Rangnick as Thomas Tuchel’s replacement. Bayern former key person Uli Hoeneß started to consider Rangnick as the head coach after Die Rotten almost ran out of options with Julian Nagelsmann and Hansi Flick not keen on joining.

Hoeneß admitted that there will be an update in the near future regarding the managerial roles in the Bavarian-based club. The news is rather shocking as Rangnick is known to be Bayern’s enemy in the past during his time with Schalke, Hoffenheim, and RB Leipzig.

“Yes, there are talks ongoing with Ralf Rangnick. I think we will have a decision within a week,” Hoeneß confirmed.

Ralf Rangnick as Thomas Tuchel’s replacement?

Even if Bayern had won the Bundesliga this season Tuchel would still leave the club still. The former Borussia Dortmund manager announced his future a few months ago when the club were struggling to keep up with Bayer Leverkusen in the title race.

On the other hand, Rangnick also confirmed the intention. He also has informed his current employer, the Austrian national federation regarding this. Rangnick is currently preparing Austria to play in the Euro 2024.

“There has been contact from the side of Bayern Munich and I have informed the Austrian Football Association,” Rangnick said via. “If Bayern say: ‘We want you’ and then I would also have to ask myself: ‘Do I really want this?’. If I want to do something else I will first discuss it with the Austrian FA.”
