Best captain picks for Fantasy Premier League 2024/25 Gameweek 2

Gameweek 2 in the English Premier League 2023-24 is set to kick-off, so is the Fantasy Premier League. While the campaign openers witnessed close matches majorly, the second matchday for the sides can let us observe some high-scoring encounters. And guess who will be happy to see goal-fests? Of course the fans, and especially the FPL team managers.

In FPL, it’s time for the managers to thrive on their chances, select the best goalscorers as their captains, and gain the maximum points to rise above the ranks. On that note, let’s have a look at the possible best captain picks in FPL teams:

Best captain picks for FPL gameweek 2:

1. Erling Haaland

The top goalscorer from last season, Erling Haaland started with his usual habit of scoring yet again. He scored a goal against the well-structured Chelsea FC in the 18th minute of their first game.

Many will expect him to score not just one, but more goals this week. He will have an added advantage too, playing at the Etihad Stadium in front of thousands of home supporters for the first time this season. And he carries the baggage of expectation even more as the opponents are Ipswich Town, whose defense looked shaky in the opener against Liverpool.

2. Mohamed Salah

The Egyptian sealed the victory for Liverpool last Saturday, with a goal and assist as he has now registered 300 goal contributions in just 350 games for the club. The 32-year-old doesn’t look to stop and will be Arne Slot’s ace in the wing.

The next challenge for the Reds will be Brentford, who shocked Crystal Palace, but Mo Salah with his skills can dominate against them. Captaining him will be a safer option, as even if he doesn’t score, he can provide a number of assists.

3. Bukayo Saka

The 22-year-old seems to continue his form from last season. He was also one of the highest point-getters from gameweek 1. Arsenal scored two goals, and Bukayo Saka was involved in both.

Choosing him can be a bit risky as the Gunners will be fielded against Aston Villa, but knowing Saka’s consistency, ability to penetrate backlines, and decision-making while taking shots, it can prove to be a clever move.

4. Heung-Min Son

The Tottenham Hotspur captain might not have scored or assisted in the opener, but he was one of their star players in the draw. The No. 7 would be thirsty for goals and Tottenham Hotspur will face a shaky Everton next, who were trampled by Brighton in the first game!

Making Son the captain of an FPL side might also prove effective, as chances of getting more points multiply for his ability to do both, score and assist.

5. Bruno Fernandes

The Portuguese playmaker is Erik ten Hag’s pivot in the line-up. From taking good set-pieces to scoring and assisting, he can do it all. His side edged past Fulham in the first game and will face Brighton & Hove next in an away game. Making Bruno the captain can prove to be a good call too, knowing he is the set-piece taker at times and also scores and assists regularly.
