Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace Preview:

  • Date: Date: 2 April, Tuesday
  • Kick-off Time: 6:45 PM (GMT)
  • Stadium: Vitality Stadium

Bournemouth are set to take on Crystal Palace at Vitality Stadium on Matchday 31 in the Premier League. Bournemouth continue to defy critics and prolong their stay in the Premier League. The club was promoted to the top tier of English football after a fantastic season in the Championship in 21/22. The Cherries have established themselves as a strong lower-table team and are aiming to finish 10th this season. A few weeks ago the Cherries were struggling to win games, but recently their form has changed drastically. Andoni Iraola’s men now have won three out of their last five outings, the latest victory coming against Everton on Saturday as they won 2-1.

Meanwhile, on the other end of the spectrum are Crystal Palace. Palace sit right below Bournemouth, but eight points separate the two. Crystal have continued dropping points in the run-up to the Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace tie and have managed to win only one of their last five games. However, Palace fans might be happy as the club has at least managed to stem the flow of losses by drawing games under new coach Olivier Glasner. Palace looked in much better condition in their 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest over the weekend but failed to convert many chances.

Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth will certainly believe they are handicapped due to injuries as they host Palace at home. Luis Sinisterra has been a revelation on the wing and his absence will certainly hurt the Cherries. The left winger sustained a hamstring injury on 25th March and is now unlikely to return till the end of the season. Iraola’s men will also enter the Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace battle without experienced central defender Marcos Sensi. He is in the final stages of recovery from injury but is highly unlikely to return to full fitness in time for the Palace tie. Ryan Christie will be another absentee for Bournemouth as he picked up a knock against Everton.

Ryan Fredericks will remain on the sidelines with his long-term injury.

Crystal Palace will consider Bournemouth lucky despite their long injury list as theirs is much longer. Goalkeeper Sam Johnstone recently sustained a heartbreaking elbow injury on international duty which will not only rule him out for the game against Bournemouth but also for the entirety of the remaining season, including the Euro 2024. A big blow.

Palace will also travel to Vitality Stadium without the services of Marc Guehi and Cheick Oumar Doucoure as both of them nurse their long-term injuries. Neither are expected to return anytime before May, with Doucoure most likely ruled out for the entire season. Palace will also be without Michael Olise who has been crucial to Palace and their success.

Crystal Palace will hope for Rob Holding to return to full fitness from his injury soon, but it is unknown if he will participate against the Cherries. However, left-back Nathan Ferguson who sustained a hamstring injury last March is unlikely to return anytime soon despite several reports about him returning to training.
