Brentford Summer Transfer Window 2024

Brentford Summer Transfer Window 2024 Analysis: Strategies, Needs, Areas for Improvement and Financial Capabilities

Brentford had a rough season as they finished 16th in the Premier League standings last time. This was quite poor for the team, considering Thomas Frank’s side had finished 9th in the league standings in their 2022/23 campaign. Many things went wrong for the Bees, including the ban on star striker Ivan Toney, which put the team on the walking plank.

However, the team will be eager to turn their fortunes around this season as they look to bounce back from the nightmares of last season. The team will need a lot of improvement and fans will hope the management has plans in place to take the Bees to the upper half of the Premier League standings.

Transfer Strategy

The transfer strategy for Brentford has to be quite linear. Keep their best players while making sure they can improve on the squad. Thomas Frank has a lot to work on considering the team needs to revitalize their midfield. The team surely has the financial firepower after David Raya sealed his move to Arsenal during the summer window.

Investing into an apt replacement while bolstering their midfield has to be Brentford’s top priority. Ivan Toney’s future is also up in the air at the club and if the striker is lured away from the Gtech Community Stadium, the team will have to invest the money directly into a natural number nine.

Squad Needs and Areas for Improvement

As listed above, the midfield and a replacement for David Raya between the stick has to be Brentford’s priority. The team has already made good efforts to add some names to their defense, but ultimately it will be their midfield that could decide how the team performs this season. Investing a little in their bench strength could also go a long way. However, if the Bees are on a forked road, Thomas Frank’s side should ideally go for strengthening their midfield.

Potential Signings

According to reports, Brentford is quite keen on securing the services of Leicester City’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Thomas Frank and his side find themselves in a bidding war with Chelsea. Dewsbury-Hall has so far refused offers from both clubs but is eager to leave the Foxes if the right deal is offered.

If Ivan Toney leaves the club this summer, the team could also invest in someone like Jonathan David to fill in the number nine role. While Newcastle is keen on securing Burnley’s James Trafford, Brentford could hijack the deal. The English youngster has huge potential and could be open to a move to a team like Brentford rather than Newcastle, where the pressure could get the better of him.

Financial Capabilities

Brentford will not have a substantial sum to spend this summer considering their position in the Premier League standings last year. However, Thomas Frank will get a sigh of relief from David Raya’s sale as it will provide the club with the needed capital to do business during the transfer window. The team will also have to make sure they do not go past the FFP guidelines as it could have a big impact on the club’s standings this season.
