Brentford vs Chelsea Player Ratings in Draw with Nicolas Jackson’s Goal

Chelsea’s minor hopes of making it to European competitions through the Premier League took a major dent after their 2-2 draw against fellow West London rivals Brentford. The contest played at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday (Mar 2) saw the game end all square leaving Chelsea in 11th position. With both teams playing out an entertaining draw in the London derby here are the player ratings from the match.

Djordje Petrovic (6/10)

Djordje Petrovic received approval before Robert Sanchez to play as he caught the ball just on the outside of the box in the first moments, giving Brentford supporters a nervous fit. To be honest, there wasn’t much he could do to achieve in a tight match.

Trevoh Chalobah (6/10)

For the first time since May of last year, back-to-back starts for Trevoh Chalobah. He looked sturdy and played in a three-back formation appears to fit his skill set.

Axel Disasi (6/10)

How awful for Brentford’s goal. Because he reacted so slowly, he was unaware that Roerslev was behind him. Chelsea as a result lost a goal to be on the receiving end of a poor result. However, he makes some amends at the end with a vital header.

Levi Colwill (6/10)

Not Levi Colwill’s greatest defensive performance. He was discovered a few times, but what he gives you in exchange more than makes up for it.

Malo Gusto (7/10)

Malo Gusto’s duty in the match was a little different and a little higher up the pitch. A fantastic cross that found Jackson for the score. This player looks so good wherever he plays.

Enzo Fernandez (5/10)

For Enzo Fernandez, a little quiet one. He was unable to control the game as much as he would have liked since he was unable to fully immerse himself in it.

Moises Caicedo (5/10)

Although Moises Caicedo made some excellent tackles and interceptions, he was giving up too many possessions. But still needs to prove his price tag worth in the Chelsea colours.

Conor Gallagher (6/10)

Not as silent as usual during the match, Conor Gallagher was attempting to force things to happen, but maybe going a bit too far at times. Not spectacular, but also not horrible.

Ben Chilwell (6/10)

Ben Chilwell played left wing-back, a position he held for many years under Graham Potter and Thomas Tuchel. Though I believe it works better for him, he was unable to make a significant difference in the game.

Cole Palmer (6/10)

Cole Palmer squandered a huge chance on sixty minutes following some excellent work by Gusto. When he had the entire goal to aim for, he struck it wide. It seems like he is in desperate need of a goal. Even on a terrible day, though, he still manages to boost his score by providing a vital assist for Disasi’s late equalizer.

Nicolas Jackson (7/10)

Nicolas Jackson five minutes or so later, made up for missing a golden chance with an incredible header. He clears the air, heading his header precisely into the corner

Mark Flekken (6/10)

Not much could be done about either goal, but overall it was a good outing for Mark Flekken as Brentford managed to get a point.

Mathias Jorgensen (5/10)

Although Mathias Jorgensen’s clearance off the line was crucial, he struggled to get on Brentford’s right flank.

Kristoffer Ajer (5/10)

Chelsea struggled with Kristoffer Ajer’s sheer presence, but Ajer was ineffective when it came to actual defense. Insufficient for Jackson’s header.

Nathan Collins (5/10)

Nathan Collins had a very difficult time dealing with Chelsea, who were busiest down their right side. Gusto has a lot of issues as a result of his late runs.

Mads Roerslev (7/10)

A truly amazing second half after a really bad first for Mads Roerslevas he positioned himself perfectly for his objective and kept creating issues to the right.

Frank Onyeka (6/10)

Throughout the first half, Frank Onyeka seemed to be missing the game. After the break, he helped his side press with a little more vigor.

Christian Norgaard (7/10)

Christian Norgaard made a sincere effort to cover the whole midfield. He had an excellent work ethic and enthusiasm but could not help his side to three points.

Vitaly Janelt (6/10)

Like Onyeka, Vitaly Janelt was a little quiet at first but became better as the game went on. He could have influenced the game if he had better support.

Sergio Reguilon (7/10)

Sergio Reguilon notably made an effort to move around the field. He was crucial to Brentford’s two goals in the match.

Ivan Toney (7/10)

Ivan Toney caused a few issues for Chelsea’s defense, but for the most part, he was living off crumbs. He delivered a good cross that assisted in creating the equalizer.

Yoane Wissa (7/10)

Yoane Wissa gave Brentford’s assault a boost and created the game’s most memorable moment but like other players could not help his side deliver the three points in the match.
